Correction of Excessive Gum Display – “Gummy Smile”
Excess gum tissue can give the teeth a rather square look. Correction of this condition involves removal of the excess gum tissue so that the tooth crowns are framed by tissue that has symmetry and correct contour.

Ridge Augmentation
Improper removal or removal of badly infected teeth without ridge preservation will result in deformity of the jaw bone. Placing a a bridge or implant(s) into or onto a deficient ridge will result in a tooth crown that is too long or bulbous. Ridge augmentation is a group of procedures designed to restore the lost structure so that the clinical appearance of the tooth replacement is normal.

Site Preservation
Bone grafting is performed at the time of tooth removal in order to preserve bone height. Preservation of bone structure is important for later implant placement or to enhance the cosmetic result of the tooth replacement. Simple unaided tooth removal can result in collapse of the bone structure.

Coverage of Exposed Root Surface
Multiple soft tissue procedures are available to cover roots exposed by gum recession. This can be especially important in the upper front teeth where the gum-line can be visible and where soft tissue drape is important for proper tooth display.
